About
Steeped in history, Plas Caer’meddyg was originally built by a doctor as a Ladies Retreat in 1905, powered by the newly discovered mineral spring which still serves the house today. It is said that the mineral water was also bottled and exported all over the world!
Healing water therapy together with fresh air, wholesome diet, light entertaining exercise (such as tennis and croquet), and plenty of rest provided the ladies with the necessary replenishment for recuperation and recovery. From that spark of inspiration, our little “courtyard of luxury” was born - a tiny haven woven into stone and water.
In 1938 the estate was formally divided, separating the manor from the farm, with each passing into private ownership. Since then, portions of the property have been intermittently operated as a guesthouse and holiday accommodation.
