About
Steeped in history, Plas Caer’meddyg was originally built by a doctor as a Ladies Retreat in 1905, powered by the newly discovered mineral spring which still serves the house today. It is said that the mineral water was also bottled and exported all over the world!
Healing water therapy together with fresh air, wholesome diet, light entertaining exercise (such as tennis and croquet), and plenty of rest provided the ladies with the necessary replenishment for recuperation and recovery. From that spark of inspiration, our little “courtyard of luxury” was born - a tiny haven woven into stone and water.
In 1938 the estate was formally divided, separating the manor from the farm, with each passing into private ownership. Since then, portions of the property have been intermittently operated as a guesthouse and holiday accommodation.
Now we are a family-run small business offering luxury holiday accommodation with exclusive private spa facilities. In support of our local community, we proudly collaborate with local artisans to feature a mini-stall of handmade souvenirs, such as greeting cards, artwork, jewellery, natural skincare products and other locally handmade unique crafts. We are especially proud to credit KATLY Art for our bespoke logo, distinctive artwork and interior design; and Lillian Cowdery Media Production for our creative marketing material and photography - both of which beautifully reflect our brand's serene ambience, creative spirit and rich history.
